Bolt-on performance parts.

Bolt on parts and rack up some nice horsepower numbers, in this section I'll go over some of the most common, easy bolt on's and the pros and cons of each.

CAI

Cold Air Intake. Most everyone knows about these, and most everyone that has worked on a car has seen or installed one. Usually quick and easy to install, a cold air intake can add up to 5 to 10 HP.

You can get an easy 5 HP , they are easy to install. Makes the engine compartment look nicer. There are some cheap eBay brands, but some brands get pricy, especially if your going for a budget build, and bigger filters can produce a whistle noise while you drive highway speeds.

Intake manifold

There are many different kinds of intake manifolds to choose for the LS. Weather you want the most power, a stock original or a nice looking one to dress up the engine compartment.

There are many different stock intakes that have good power numbers, lots of different dyno tests have confirmed that the TBSS intake is one of the best, the highest flowing stock manifold. That is why they are so desirable. The Trailblazer SS came with the LS2 and that intake was built specially for that vehicle, and it performed so well that used the same design on NNBS (new new body style) trucks.

Fabricated aluminum intakes are available on almost everywhere, jegs and summit racing have their own branded ones too. These ones don't have the flow numbers as some others, but they do look great, super sleek and clean look all around.

The more expensive brands like MSD and FAST have great intakes with great flow, and a real clean look, when you open your hood, other will know what you're about from the get-go. The number will be great but at a cost $$$.
